Terms and conditions


Thank you for placing an order with Penty’s Cakes. 
On confirming your order and paying your booking fee, the following terms and conditions apply. Receipt of payment is taken as confirmation that you agree to the terms and conditions. 

Payment 

A 50% non-refundable deposit is to be paid to secure your date. This deposit will cover any products purchased specifically for your cake, and any work carried out in preparation. 
As soon as I have received your deposit, your date is confirmed and secured in the diary.  The balance will be due 1 week prior to collection of your cake. (the balance being the total price for your cake minus the deposit)

Cake design

It is very important to us to get the design for your cake right for you. I will consult with you to ensure that you are happy with the design.  
Any amendments that you would like to the design should ideally be confirmed 2 weeks prior to the date that your cake is required. 
If you request a change to the design after the 2 week deadline, any products that have been purchased for the cake that are no longer required will still be charged for. 

Any cake sketches or designs shared with you remain the property of Penty's Cakes and cannot be shared. 

Allergens

My business is run from a family kitchen and regularly uses allergens.  
I therefore do not recommend my cakes for allergy sufferers. 


Collection / Delivery

If you are collecting your cake, the cake will be packaged securely for your journey. However, the cake needs to remain on a flat surface and secured. Do Not travel with the cake on a lap, or on a seat of the car. It should always travel in the foot well or secured in the boot of the car. 
Please travel carefully as any sudden movements could affect the structure of the cake. 
As soon as the cake has been handed over on collection you, the customer takes full responsibility of the cake. 
Penty’s cakes will not take any responsibility for damage to the cake after collection. 
If your cake is being delivered, as soon as the cake has been delivered/set up (where requested) Penty’s Cakes takes no responsibility for any damage to the cake after this point. 

 

Storage

Cakes, if not being delivered to the venue on the day of collection /delivery should be stored in the cake box provided in a cool room. I do not recommend that cakes covered in or decorated with sugar paste are refrigerated. This is due to the build-up of condensation on the surface when the cakes are removed from the fridge. Cakes are baked to be consumed on the day of the party/event as this is when they are at their best. Our cakes are made with fresh, quality ingredients for this reason they do not have the same shelf life that supermarket products have. I therefore advise that all cakes should be consumed within 48 hours of collection / delivery. 

 

Cake cutting and servings

The number of servings that I advise a cake will provide is a guideline as will depend on the way that the cake is cut. I advise portions based on party servings of 1inch wide x 2inches deep. A wedding / event style portion would be 1inch x 1inch.

Cancellations/postponement

If a postponement is required Penty’s Cakes will aim to move your deposit to the date that you require, providing that this date is still available. If the date is unavailable and cancellation is the only option, your 50% deposit will be retained to cover any costs already incurred in preparation of your cake, including items purchased specifically for your cake. Any cancellation or postponements must be made in writing.

Refunds
Refunds will only be considered if the cake is returned so that I can establish the fault with the cake.

 

Photos are taken of all cakes prior to collection.  These photos are taken to be used on social media and our website
